Frequently asked questions about how we manage donations

Thank you for supporting our work. Here you will find answers to the most frequently asked questions about donations.

What happens to my donation?

The majority of donations go towards our ongoing programs and projects in the field and in Switzerland. This includes for example research work to expose human rights violations and support for the projects and initiatives of our partner communities. Thanks to your donation, we can act quickly in emergency situations and secure human rights in the long term. A smaller amount goes towards administration and fundraising.

If you would like to know more about the impact of your donation, subscribe to our magazine and/or newsletter.

Can donations be deducted from taxes?

Yes. With the donation receipt as evidence, which you will receive by letter or by email at the beginning of each year (January/February), you can deduct your donation from your taxes. The amount of the deduction is determined individually by the cantonal tax authorities. The Swiss certification body for charitable organizations, Zewo, has compiled an overview.

How do I know if my donation has been received?

We provide regular updates on the progress of our programs and projects in our publications, on our website, and in our newsletter. Our annual report tells you where we have been active, what we have achieved, and how we have used your donations.

Can I decide which project I want to support?

Through our, we aim to bring about lasting change while remaining flexible in order to respond to the constantly changing situations of our partners and their communities. Free donations are the most helpful in this regard, as they allow us to allocate funds where they are most urgently needed and will have the greatest impact.

Can I donate regularly?

Your long-term support demonstrates your commitment to human rights and enables you to help more effectively: regular contributions reduce administrative costs, make our work easier to plan, are more sustainable, and allow us to offer our partners long-term cooperation. You decide the amount and payment frequency yourself.

How much should my donation be?

You decide how much and when you want to donate. Every contribution is valuable. We recommend a contribution of 120.- per year (or 10.- per month).
